Graphic novels can be used as a tool to inform people of past events they may not have known about otherwise. In my work I look at stories that include political injustice. The first comic I made during the MA told the story of a group of punks in Indonesia who were detained for ‘re-education’, which involved having their heads forcibly shaved. The second comic shows a portion of the lives of two dogs, one who attended protests in Greece and the other in Chile. I only write a small amount of dialogue and work it into the images so that it is understandable for any audience. I use a Wacom tablet and Photoshop. When I first began making graphic novels, I felt very trapped, like I had to stick to set of unwritten rules. Now I like to experiment with layouts and colour palettes that break free from the standard comic format.

Roedd y comic cyntaf a wnes i yn ystod yr MA yn adrodd stori grŵp o punks yn Indonesia a gafodd eu cadw yn y ddalfa am ‘ail-addysg’, a oedd yn cynnwys cael eu pennau wedi’u heillio’n rymus. Mae'r ail comic yn dangos cyfran o fywydau dau gi, un a fynychodd brotestiadau yng Ngwlad Groeg a'r llall yn Chile. Dim ond ychydig bach o ddeialog yr wyf yn ei ysgrifennu a'i weithio yn y delweddau fel ei fod yn ddealladwy i unrhyw gynulleidfa. Rwy'n defnyddio tabled Wacom a Photoshop. Pan ddechreuais wneud nofelau graffig gyntaf, roeddwn i'n teimlo'n gaeth iawn, fel roedd yn rhaid i mi gadw at set o reolau anysgrifenedig. Nawr rwy'n hoffi arbrofi gyda chynlluniau a phaletiau lliw sy'n torri'n rhydd o'r fformat comig safonol.
